What We Do

  • EFRA works tirelessly on behalf of everyone who rides a horse in Epping Forest.
  • EFRA monitors the tracks, bridleways and rides. We liase with the City of London to keep them open and in good condition.
  • We lobby the City of London Epping Forest, Common Committees and the Verderers of the forest for better provision for horse riders.
  • We lobby the local councils and county council to improve safety for horses on and crossing forest roads.
  • We attend meetings of the Epping Forest Commons Committee so we are aware of proposed changes in forest management.
  • We link with other horse riding associations through 'United Riders' which is an umbrella body working on behalf of horse riders throughout Essex and south East Anglia, and with the national riding Associations.
  • EFRA is ensuring that the views of Epping Forest riders are heard during consultations on the expansion of Stanstead Airport, housing development in Essex and the south east of England, etc.
  • We have regular member's meetings to find out their concerns.
  • We publish a regular newsletter with articles about riding in the forest.
  • We run events for riders such as Horseman's Sunday, clue rides, a Christmas mulled wine ride, dressage and other competitions.
